Being inspired by the classical bands of Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, The Jazz Messengers and groups alike, this fresh Hard Swinging fellow-band turns back to the Golden Jazz Times - the Blue Note Era of the 50s and 60s. The core of the repertoire is focusing mainly on music, written by Benny Golson, Horace Silver, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Joe Henderson etc., including original material in the same style.
The freshness and energy of the vibe comes from the youth of talents, such as: Hichem Khalfa (trumpet), Félix Tellier Pouliot (guitar) and Louis-Vincent Hamel (drums). Add to this a bit of Central Asian and Eastern European flavour that Serge Agoshkov's bass and Tihomir Krastev's saxophone bring, and you get a strong, yet experimental Hard-Bop sounding group.

Inspiré par des groupes phares du Jazz comme ceux de Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter et The Jazz Messengers, pour ne nommer que ceux-ci, The Montreal Bop & Modes revisite cette ère glorieuse du Jazz: l'ère «Blue Note» des années 50 et 60. Leur répertoire comprend principalement des pièces de cette période écrites par des musiciens comme Benny Golson, Horace Silver, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, etc. Le groupe incluent également des compositions de chacun des membres, toujours ancré dans cette tradition «Hard Bop».
Le vent de fraîcheur et l'énergie du groupe vient de jeunes talents comme Hichem Khalfa (trompette), Félix Tellier Pouliot (guitare) et Louis-Vincent Hamel (batterie). Cette énergie vient aussi d'une saveur d'Asie Centrale et d'Europe de l'Est apportée par Serge Agoshkov (contrebasse) et Tihomir Krastev au saxophone. Ce mélange d'individus charismatiques vous offre du Jazz ancré dans le «Hard Bop» tout en y apportant un côté contemporain.
